Verification failed
Webmaster verify shows verifyFailed / Verification failed. when ownership could not be confirmed (or the API fell back to this message).
Why this happens
DNS/meta token missing or wrong, propagation delay, or wrong site URL. Distinct from Verification request failed (request/network) and No verification methods are enabled in Affiliation Settings.
Diagnose and fix
1. Confirm the DNS record or meta tag matches exactly; wait for DNS TTL if needed.
2. Retry verify after propagation.
3. Admin: ensure at least one verification method is enabled.
