Enter the file password
The visitor tried to unlock a password-protected file without typing a password. Client-side validation on the download landing gate.
Why this happens
The file has an access password. Empty submit shows this prompt. Wrong password and server “password protected” / “incorrect” messages are separate. Owners usually bypass the gate when signed in as the uploader.
Diagnose and fix
1. Visitor: enter the password the uploader shared, then continue.
2. Uploader: set or reset the password under My Files / edit file.
3. If verify fails for other reasons, see Could not verify password.
4. No admin toggle removes the need for a password once one is set on the file.
