Download or upload must stay enabled
You see this when a save or API call would leave both download and upload disabled for a context that needs at least one of them.
Why this happens
Each plan tier has separate switches for Uploads enabled and Downloads enabled under Users & limits. Some tools (and some permission saves) refuse a “both off” state so a role cannot end up unable to do either action.
Message text in the product: “At least one of download or upload must stay enabled.”
Diagnose and fix
1. Admin → Settings → Users & limits — for the tier you changed (guest / registered / Premium / Premium Pro), check:
- toggle.ul2_upl_on_* — Uploads enabled
- toggle.ul2_dnl_on_* — Downloads enabled
Leave at least one on for that tier.
2. If you edited a single user override, open that user and restore upload or download for them.
3. Re-save and retry the action that failed.
