Where to find it
Admin → Settings → Settings (first tab) → Site identity → News comments enabled
Setting key: news.comments_enabled
Defaults on unless explicitly set to false.
How it works
- Off — comment UI hidden on news, even if a post still has “Allow comments.”
- On — each post’s own allow-comments flag still applies.
Separate from file comments on download pages (Enable file comments under Settings → Files).
Common problems
Comments missing on every news post
This switch is off. Turn it on, then check the individual post.
Spam on news
Use comment captcha and moderate under Admin → Comments.
